RXSOL DrillMax XPM Drilling Polymer
Delivers exceptional viscosity, suspension, and fluid-loss control, providing stable rheology for HDD, water-well, and mineral-exploration drilling in fresh or low-salinity water systems.
A free-flowing powder blend combining high-efficiency for low-shear rate viscosity and cut carrying, and components for fluid-loss control and additional viscosity, and selected base for base gel/plugging and suspension stability. Designed for freshwater and low-salinity brine systems in HDD, water-well, mineral exploration and civil drilling.
- Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) – Lubricates and stabilizes boreholes, suspends cuttings, and reduces torque/drag.
- Water-Well Drilling – Improves carrying capacity and maintains hole integrity in sand, silt, and gravel formations.
- Geotechnical & Exploration Drilling – Controls fluid loss and maintains stable mud properties in core drilling and mineral exploration.
- Civil Construction Boring & Micro-Tunneling – Provides a thixotropic gel for easy spoil removal and minimal surface disturbance.
How to use
Application | Dosage (kg/m³) | Notes |
---|---|---|
Pilot/Spud / Water-Well | 2–4 | General hole cleaning & gel strength |
HDD / Directional | 3–6 | For sand/silt; increase for coarse gravels |
Fluid-loss Reduction | 4–7 | For permeable formations |
Wiper/Conditioning Pills | 5–8 | Short exposure, higher rheology |
Process to follow for Drilling Polymer Powder usage in Rigs Oilfield
- Treat make-up water: Adjust pH 8.5–9.5 with soda ash; reduce hardness (Ca²⁺ <150 ppm).
- Eductor/hopper feed: With good vortex, slowly sprinkle the powder—avoid clumping (“fish eyes”).
- Shear: Circulate through mud hopper or jet mixer. Avoid extreme shear that can degrade the product.
- Hydration time: Allow 20–30 minutes for primary hydration; properties continue to build over 1–2 hours.
- Conditioning: Check PV/YP/gel strengths and API fluid loss; trim with additional blend as needed.
- Compatibility: Works with common additives (KCl, soda ash, biocides, defoamers). Pilot-test with high salinity or divalent-rich waters.
Features and Benefits of Drilling Polymer Powder
- Rapid hole cleaning & cuttings suspension (high LSRV).
- Reduced filtration / wall cake permeability (Polymer + bentonite synergy).
- Stable rheology over wide shear rates; good suspension at low pump rates.
- Improves borehole stability and reduces torque/drag in HDD.
- Performs in a broad pH window; tolerant to moderate salinity/hardness.
Always do pilot testing before product usage.
Parameter | Target / Range |
---|---|
Appearance | Free-flowing beige/tan powder |
Odor | Mild/neutral |
Moisture (LOD, 105 °C) | ≤ 10% |
Bulk density | ~0.6–0.9 g/mL |
pH (1% w/v slurry) | 7.0–9.0 |
- Cuttings Suspension & Transport – High low-shear viscosity keeps cuttings in suspension during pauses or low pump rates.
- Fluid-Loss Control – Creates a thin, low-permeability filter cake to protect formation walls and reduce water loss.
- Lubrication – Reduces friction between drill string and borehole, lowering torque and wear on equipment.
- Formation Stabilization – Seals unconsolidated zones and prevents sloughing or collapse.
- Versatility – Works in fresh water and low-salinity brines; compatible with common drilling additives.
